There's a BABY in There!

Had our 1st appointment this morning and I can't seem to get the smile off my face! Everything was going well, we had the normal exam, then the doc was going to try to hear the heartbeat of the baby using a dopp-tone. Unfortunately he was only able to find my heartbeat and not the baby's so he decided he would check and see if he could get me in for an ultrasound to check it out. Luckily they had a few cancellations/no shows so we were able to get in for the u/s. I am absolutely in AWE of that machine. She first waved her magic wand over my belly and all I saw was a big empty sac which scared me a bit but was much relieved when she laughed and said "I bet you have to go to the bathroom! That is your bladder!". Of course, I was dying to pee and had been holding it for my labs :) She moved the magic wand around and focused on my uterus and the very first thing we saw was a little baby doing somersaults! He/she was just dancing away, kicking feet, wiggling. I just kept thinking, wow how do I not feel this! SOON! Tears definitely filled my eyes. Baby has a little buddha belly, is measuring 11 weeks & 2 days, and has a strong normal heartbeat of 162. I have never felt more like a mommy than I do today - it is amazing! Oh, and soon after I was able to empty my bladder, and what seemed to be half my arm's bloodflow. Holy cow does the blood fill those tubes fast! Baby is the size of a lime today - what a great day!

That is awesome! Did they send you digital pictures? They only gave us prints and the quality was crappy. Yeah! BP looks happy in there.

Shhhh - we scanned the pic when we got home :) But the printout was awesome quality! I was surprised for sure. Seriously though if I could have had video it would have been so awesome - the somersault was unbelievable!

How exciting! I had to have an u/s last fall when my gallbladder had to be removed - not nearly as exciting as this would be... :) Congrats!!
